Annual training is required by the Department of Education for all personnel who have been designated as a Campus Security Authority.

Chief Objective of Position:

The Assistant Director and Deputy Title IX Coordinator in the Office of Institutional Compliance/Title IX assists the efforts of the Director in leading efforts to prevent discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct on campus, while also fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect. The Assistant Director serves as the primary point of contact for reports received by the Office and manages the office's involvement in education, prevention, and outreach efforts on campus. As Deputy Title IX Coordinator, the Assistant Director also serves as University Title IX Coordinator in the Director/University Title IX Coordinator's absence.

Work Tasks:

  • Receives, reviews, and in consultation with Director takes appropriate action concerning reports of alleged misconduct; providing resources and guidance to individuals in a manner that is professional and compassionate and informed by knowledge of and skills in working effectively with individuals in distress
  • Builds and maintains excellent relationships with on and off campus partners including but not limited to Counseling Services, Residence Life and Housing Administration, Accessibility and Care Team Support, Dean of Students office, University Police, Center for Honors Enrichment and Community Standards, Human Resources, etc. to assure effective referrals, strengthen quality of consultation and collaborative response to reports
  • Maintains accurate records of reports, actions taken, provision of supportive measures, referrals, etc. as required by law, policy and procedure; ensuring attention to confidentiality and privacy
  • Along with the Director, serves as a visible and accessible resource for students, faculty, staff, and community members seeking information or support related to Title IX and regulatory compliance
  • Develops, delivers, and assesses educational content with clearly articulated learning outcomes, that is evidence based or grounded in promising practices that is tailored to the needs of the audience
  • Serves as a campus partner in university wide prevention efforts
  • Creates and maintains print, social media, and web content for the Office of Institutional Compliance/Title IX
  • Serves on internal and external committees as determined by the Director
  • Represents the Office of Institutional Compliance/Title IX at campus and community events, to include but not limited to; admission events, orientation, etc. This may require hours at night or on weekends
  • Assists Director with policy and procedure review and changes
  • In the absence of the Title IX Coordinator or as designated is able to carry out all functions of the University Title IX Coordinator such as convening the Sexual Violence Review Committee, elevating reports to Behavior Intervention Team, or Threat Assessment Team; coordinate formal and informal resolution of formal complaints
  • Follow workplace safety regulations and adhere to applicable standards, processes, and programs established for your position
  • Immediately report unsafe work conditions and work-related incidents to your supervisor and participate in accident investigation requests
  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment by ensuring the implementation of safety regulations and applicable standards, processes, and programs established for employees under your supervision
  • Ensure employees under your supervision are trained in safety standards and procedures for their positions
  • Report work-related incidents within 24 hours according to the procedures established by the university, state and federal guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) related to position:

  • Skilled with providing services and support to individuals experiencing emotional distress
  • Knowledge of and experience using trauma informed, human development, and/or counseling skills to ask questions about needs, provide information about services, and conduct effective and warm handoffs to appropriate resources
  • Skilled working effectively in a culturally competent manner with a variety of people
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative and trusting working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, internal, and external partners.
  • Excellent attention to detail, record keeping and reporting
  • Ability to work in a sensitive environment while maintaining privacy, confidentiality and maintaining openness
  • Ability to share information as appropriate with designated partners
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent public speaking skills
Required Education:

Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree and experience that equates to an advanced degree.

Additional Consideration - Education:

A master's degree or higher in College student Personnel, Counseling, or a similar discipline

Experience Required:

  • Experience with human relations skills/techniques such as de-escalation and conflict resolution in a sensitive environment.
  • Experience working effectively with diverse populations
  • Experience developing and providing educational content to a variety of learners
  • Experience building and maintaining effective partnerships with a variety of stakeholders
Additional Consideration - Experience:

  • Experience working in Title IX, or survivor advocacy, or health promotion and prevention, or student conduct, or similar student affairs/higher education role
  • Experience with investigation or decision-making in a higher education setting for student conduct matters
  • Experience delivering high-quality support programs
  • Experience developing and delivering educational content on sensitive topics with clear learning outcomes that is tailored to the needs of the audience
  • Experience using software for case management and record keeping such as Maxient
  • Experience with updating, maintaining or developing web based content
  • Experience creating handouts and educational materials used for programming
Salary Information:

Starting at $74,000, commensurate with education and experience.
