The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Washington State University (WSU) is seeking to fill a full-time permanent Associate Dean for Professional Programs (ADPP) position. The ADPP could be either a continuous career or tenure track position with a flexible appointment assignment depending upon interest. The ADPP reports directly to the dean and serves as a member of the college leadership team. The ADPP has broad oversight and responsibility for the DVM program with direct engagement in program curriculum, assessment, operations, academic affairs, and accreditation. The ADPP serves on the Academic Council and interacts with the leads for all 4 years of the DVM curriculum. In addition, the ADPP supervises well-established leaders and functional teams in student affairs, admissions, and counseling and wellness.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary liaison for regional program partnerships (currently Montana, Idaho and Utah). Work with the college communications, facilities, fundraising, strategic planning and diversity, equity, and inclusion staff to promote, market and serve all aspects of our professional programming to ensure student success. Coordinate support services for professional students including pre-veterinary outreach activities, diversity and career advising; and student ceremonies. Working with academic council and curriculum committee, oversee curricular review, revision and renewal; ensure curricular effectiveness and compliance with accreditation standards. Oversee program assessment including ongoing assessment of program outcomes via collection and analysis of internal and external data, assessment of regional program effectiveness. Oversee general program operations including accreditation, educational systems and resources, program policies and processes, financial oversight of program support services, development strategies, and supervision and professional development of team members. Represent WSU professional programs to external program partners including AAVMC and other entities at the national/international level focused on veterinary medical education and health professions education more broadly.
Given program expansion, there are opportunities for restructuring current activities and responsibility sharing with other program leaders, depending on candidate's strengths and interests.
Required Qualifications:
Required Qualifications for All Ranks:
An advanced degree (DVM, BVSc or equivalent and/or PhD) in a related field, and 5 years of experience in veterinary medicine, health sciences, or related field.
Demonstrated excellence in supervising staff, communications, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Applicants without a veterinary degree will be considered if there is 1) demonstrated experience in a professional health sciences environment and 2) demonstrated engagement/leadership in program oversight or operations.
Required Qualifications for Associate Professor Rank:
Six (6) years of experience as an Assistant Professor or equivalent is required to be considered as an Associate Professor.
Career and Tenure Track positions require a record of teaching, research, and service accomplishments consistent with the appointment of rank as an Associate Professor at WSU as specified in the University's Faculty Manual, sections III C 5 and III C 6.
Required Qualifications for Full Professor Rank:
Six (6) years of experience as an Associate Professor or equivalent is required to be considered as a Full Professor.
Career and Tenured positions require a record of teaching, research, and service accomplishments consistent with the appointment of rank as a Professor at WSU as specified in the University's Faculty Manual, sections III C 5 and III C 6.
Preferred Qualifications (All Ranks):
Applicants with a veterinary degree (DVM, BVSc or equivalent).
At least 5 years of experience in an academic environment.
Evidence of academic leadership. Previous academic leadership may be in clinical medicine, research, education, or teaching.

Annual Salary:
$140,000 - $175,000 | Commensurate with qualification and experience. In addition, while serving as Associate Dean of Professional Programs, this position will be eligible for an administrative stipend for the duration of the Associate Dean appointment.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
