SummaryThe Associate Director for Civic Engagement and Expression aims to create a culture of free expression, civic education, dialogue, and engagement. The Associate Director manages the training, operations, and support for the University Response Team (URT) as well as the promotion and education of Tulane University's Freedom of Expression Protocols. Specifically, the Associate Director coordinates the selection, training, scheduling, and assessment of the successful operations of the URT. In addition, they provide year-round, comprehensive promotion and programing to educate our campus community on freedom of speech, expression, and engagement. In this work, they partner with campus stakeholders such as CPS, TUA, GAPSA, CIL, EDI, the restorative justice initiative, academic departments, and faculty. The URT is the university response and support team for all registered and lawful assemblies, as well as university community events and programs when requested by program coordinators.
Required Qualifications* Bachelor's Degree and three years of progressive student affairs experience in a collegiate setting or large venue.OR* High School Diploma/equivalent and seven years progressive student affairs experience in a collegiate setting or large venue.
* Graduate or Professional Degree in student affairs, higher education leadership, social work, law, or related field required * Demonstrated expertise in student development, training and development, and conflict management * Knowledge of student development theory, freedom of expression, and learning and development * Knowledge of best practices in de-escalation, dialogue, and restorative justice* Demonstrated experience in working with diverse student groups and programs
