Job Summary
To directly supervise the work of approximately 20-30 Facilities and Services Building Service Workers and others as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise and administer the daily work of approximately 20-30 Facilities and Services Building Service Workers as assigned.
- Schedules, assigns and inspects custodial work, and the work performance of Facilities and Services Building Service Workers.
- Responsible for accuracy and the processing and approving the BSW's time worked.
- Responsible for safety of employees assigned, filling out accident forms, handling any emergency that may arise (such as floods, fire, etc.). Hold and conduct weekly team/ monthly safety meetings, follow up to insure that safe work practices and habits are carried out.
- Responsible for implementing Performance Partnership Program
- Responsible for adequate supplies, equipment and materials at each job location, familiarity with all supplies and equipment in assigned area.
- Maintain accurate inventory record of all equipment on his/her assigned area.
- Maintains and keeps accurate record of building keys on his/her assigned area, familiarity with building keys, locking and unlocking of buildings.
- Support / Implement Continuance of Quality Improvements / Illinois Quality Assurance
- Assist in other related duties

2. Three (3) years (36 months) of experience in building custodial work.
Preferred QualificationsPossession of a valid Driver's license at the time of hire and maintained throughout employment - This position will drive University vehicles to transport BSW staff and/or equipment as required in the position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to convey instructions and provide direction
- Strong computer skills are required for the use of spreadsheets, email, and other documents. Excel and Microsoft Word are preferred
- Knowledge of custodial/ training procedures
- Thorough understanding of University, F&S and Building Services policies
- Skill in working with people and providing excellent customer service
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions including maintaining appropriate records as required
- Support the Mission, Vision, Values and Guiding Principles of Facilities & Services
Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 1600 - Building Service Foreman position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the search close date. The salary range for this position is $50,000-60,000 per year. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, relevant collective bargaining agreements, and/or budget constraints. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
