Job purpose

American Products is currently seeking a Buyer, responsible for a variety of purchasing responsibilities.

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, selecting, and purchasing goods and services for the organization. This includes managing supplier relationships, negotiating prices, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining optimal inventory levels to support the company's operational goals. The Buyer plays a crucial role in optimizing costs while maintaining high-quality standards for all purchased goods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and monitor purchase orders.
  • Work with suppliers to examine and learn about products, services, and prices.
  • Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other information to determine reasonable pricing.
  • Maintain and review records of items bought, costs, deliveries, product performance and inventories.
  • Ensure the availability of materials and products in alignment with inventory needs, project deadlines, and production schedules.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving strategies while maintaining product quality.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., operations, finance, and production) to align procurement with business objectives.
  • Utilize MRP, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook to accomplish tasks.
  • Monitor vendors and vendor performance.
  • May perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Education
  • High School Diploma preferred

Specialized Knowledge and Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year purchasing/inventory control experience is preferred.
  • 1 year of MRP experience preferred.

Travel

Minimal travel is required for this position.
