Sunbelt Asphalt Surfaces, Inc. is seeking an experienced Dump Truck Driver to join our asphalt and materials distribution team. This team specializes in transporting and distribution of asphalt components in all stages, from raw material to final product. The Sunbelt Asphalt Plant produces hundreds of thousands of tons of asphalt annually for company projects and private consumers.

Job Description:

As a Dump Truck Driver, you will efficiently and safely transport and deliver aggregate, base, and asphalt to meet production & distribution demands between the plant and projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a valid CDL-B Driver License & DOT Medical Card
  • Must maintain consistent and concise communication with Leadership and peers.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times to promote a positive company image, develop a courteous and considerate attitude of assigned personnel towards these groups.
  • Perform pre-trip inspection which includes: checking oil, water, fuel, tires and lights on tractor trailer each morning prior to starting the day's activities. Must report any problems or malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Receive job assignment from supervisor or dispatcher. Drive to specified area to pick up material such as asphalt, fill dirt, stock sand, stone, etc. to be delivered to job site. Monitor the loading of material onto the truck to ensure even distribution and proper weight is maintained. Thoroughly cover and secure the load prior to transporting.
  • The ability to load and transport material to the appointed destination in a safe and efficient manner. Comply with all company, DOT, Federal, State, and local safety regulations.
  • The ability to complete a trip ticket for each move made or keep receipt for materials hauled and turn tickets in to supervisor.
  • The ability to complete the daily DOT log book and turn in as required to supervisor or dispatcher. Complete and turn in other required forms and reports to supervisor or dispatcher.
  • The ability to perform minor maintenance and repairs to truck such as painting, washing, cleaning, etc.
  • The ability to assist crew you were assigned to work with, in the performance of various laborious work, when truck is not needed or in use.
  • Follow all safety rules and company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Physical Activity/Demand: Moderate physical effort required. Frequently lilting or moving average weight material (over 25 pounds) or occasional lifting or moving heavy weight materials (over60 pounds) less than 20% of time is spent in physically demanding role. Position requires the ability to climb onto machines, to stoop, kneel, crouch, lift and grasp position requires ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word and the ability to perceive sounds and receive detailed information through oral communications.

Mental and/or Visual Demand: Continuous mental and visual attention required to oversee job, personnel and equipment assigned. Position requires constant alertness to job activities.

Working conditions: Somewhat disagreeable working conditions with continuous exposure to dust. Dirt, seasonal temperature variances and machine noise, with several elements continuously present to extent of being objectionable.

Experience / Skills Required:
  • Use of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers including decimals and fractions is required. Check reports, forms, records and comparable data, where interpretation is required.
  • Over one year and up to three years to become familiar with the safe and proper operation of dump body truck, hauling materials, backing up to paving equipment, working next to traffic, dumping on various subgrades and inclines.
  • Proficiency utilizing electronic apps (WhipAround, Samsara, FleetWatcher, etc.)
