The Interfaith Chaplain provides pastoral care services to patients, families and staff of diverse religious and cultural backgrounds and is a representative of spiritual care services on the multi-disciplinary teams within the Hospital and conducts worship services when necessary.

Qualifications
Requires:

  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated competence in enabling effective team collaboration between colleagues, staff, volunteers, and community resources. Demonstrated competence in ministry to the sick and to persons of diverse religious, educational, and cultural backgrounds. Clarity of pastoral identity and role in a nonsectarian institutional setting. Ability to relate theology and behavioral sciences to pastoral care ministry. Demonstrated competence in teaching and supervising adult learners. A spiritual life grounded in the discipline of prayer and reflection. Maturity and ability to function under stressful conditions. Resourcefulness and cooperation in relationship with others. Love of learning, and commitment to personal and professional growth.
  • A Divinity degree from accredited theological school/college, or the equivalent is required and Ecclesiastical Endorsements for hospital chaplaincy through his or her faith tradition.
Preferred:

  • 2 years' experience in hospital chaplaincy as a chaplain.
  • experience facilitating spiritual groups
  • Certification as a Chaplain/Board Certified Chaplain by a national chaplaincy organization such as NACC (National Archdiocese Catholic Chaplains) or the APC (Association of Professional Chaplains), and maintains such certification.
