Clinical Lab Assistant - Core Laboratory
Part time, 24 hours per week
Day Shift - M,T,TH,F- 4 hour shift each day 11am - 3pm and Wednesday 8 hour shift 7am - 3:30pm
About the Role:
The Clinical Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of clerical and technical duties under general supervision, reporting to a Laboratory Supervisor or Manager. Responsibilities include receiving, accessioning, centrifuging, and decanting patient specimens, as well as communicating with clinicians.
Key Responsibilities:

Visitor Interaction: Greets and assists visitors at the Front Window.

Sample Management:

Reception: Sorts, prioritizes, and receives patient specimens.

Accessioning: Enters patient information accurately into the computer and labels specimens.

Processing: Operates automated sample processing instrumentation and transfers samples.

Communication: Responds to telephone inquiries and processes add-on requests.

Documentation: Faxes reports, sorts, and files requisitions, and follows department protocols.

Safety and Cleanliness: Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
Qualifications Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Previous laboratory, healthcare, or customer service experience preferred.

Skills:
- Interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction.
- Ability to multitask and work accurately under stress.
- Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and visual accuracy.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Windows.
- English language proficiency for communication.
Working Conditions:
- Clinical laboratory environment handling potentially biohazardous body fluid samples.
- Hectic or stressful work environment at times.
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing, with occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
