The Collection Specialist is responsible for making decisions regarding collections of outstanding accounts receivable dollars from the existing client base, executing on collection strategies, and handling all other aspects of collections, resolving customer billing issues, and reducing accounts receivable delinquency.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Monitor accounts receivable and identify overdue accounts
• Contact customers with overdue account balances
• Use internet services and other tools to locate customers who have moved or changed phone numbers
• Resolve customer issues and complaints concerning billing
• Submit weekly reports on the status of unpaid accounts
• Contact the branches for Cylinder pick ups
• Email accounts receivable for missing, unapplied or misapplied payments
• Make collection calls for past due AR
• Contact customers for missing remits for payment application
• Submit refund request forms for closed and overpayment accounts
• Assist the branches with unsuspends on accounts
• Assist the branches with credit releases on accounts that are over their credit limit
• Work closely with the branches to determine if an account should be billed LOU or sent to collections
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:

• High School Diploma/GED
• 1-3 years related work experience with credit, collections, accounts receivable experience as well as experience interacting with customers
• Works well under pressure
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent attention to detail, demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people in a team environment
• Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers both verbally and in writing
• Proficient use of Windows based computer software and the use of spreadsheets
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest and percentages
• Ability to multi-task and problem solve
• Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment due to delays or unexpected requests
