Position Summary and Responsibilities
The Community-Engaged Learning Program Consultant will provide assessment support and serve as a consultant for community-engaged learning efforts on campus, including:
- Participating in the Office of Community Engaged Learning's (OCEL) efforts to create changes towards critical community-engaged pedagogy, equitable and justice-centered partnership building, and engaged scholarship by;
- Measuring the impact of the Community-Engaged Intensives in the Humanities Initiative (CEIH), funded by the Mellon Foundation, on teaching, student learning, and partnership building,
- Gathering qualitative and narrative testimony about the supports necessary for curriculum development, outcomes of community-engaged coursework, and the role of community partners as co-educators in the liberal arts and;
- Undertaking a holistic assessment of campus-wide community engaged efforts, including the Vassar Education Collaboration (VEC) and the relationship to the OCEL, that centers best practices in the broader field.
This is a project-based, grant-funded, limited term consultant position, reporting to the Director of the Office of Community-Engaged Learning. The expected start date is September 2024 and the expected end date is March 2025.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree required; 5+ years of experience or equivalent in community engaged learning, higher education, non-profit, grants, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong and demonstrable proficiency with assessment including quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Interest in and experience with community-based work, community-engaged learning or critical service-learning pedagogy, curriculum development, and campus- community collaborations.
- Strong proficiency with the use of software platforms and high degree of comfort with multiple technology applications, including Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Google Suite, Canva or Adobe Creative Suite and databases. Familiarity with statistical software (e.g. R) preferable. Willingness to learn new software.
- Creative thinker who collaborates well with a team but who can also work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate clear objectives, listen generously, and drive accountability.
- Strong and demonstrable writing and research skills. Ability to analyze information and communicate it to diverse audiences in multimedia format and in a clear manner.
- Knowledge of Poughkeepsie/ Dutchess County desirable.
