About the Department
The Chicago Center for HIV Elimination (CCHE), is situated within the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago Medicine. CCHE aims to eliminate all new HIV transmission events by 2041.

The University of Chicago's position on the South Side makes it uniquely situated to test, treat, and prevent new HIV infections in a highly affected population. The South Side communities and majority Black suburbs connected to them to the South represents the largest contiguous Black population in the United States. By using our integrated HIV transmission elimination approaches, we are beginning to make new infections in these communities less frequent.

Job Summary
In this role, the Community Outreach & Testing Services Manager is responsible for completing daily or shift specific quality audits, facilitating monthly team meetings, and directing delivery of quality, patient-centered services for sexual and gender minority individuals seeking outreach and testing services. This is in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Director of Population Centered Health Homes. In the absence of the Director of Population Centered Health Homes, the Manager of Community Outreach & Testing Services assumes responsibility for the unit.

Responsibilities

  • Training and supporting the Outreach and Network Services team members. Training consists of completing the HIV testing and counseling training for new hires, processing training, phlebotomy training, other team trainings on updated protocols and services, and CCHE-wide trainings and protocols.
  • Leads team huddles to ensure communication across the team on weekly updates on projects, clients and other policies as needed.
  • Assists with the coordination of cross-team collaborations with research, admin, supportive services, biostats, PACT to ensure activities, communications, and managing project deliverables are maintained.
  • Complete regular audits ensuring documentation is up to date for the Outreach & Network Services team.
  • Serves as a back up for testing services for research and drop in as needed.
  • Provide task management to the Outreach & Network Service team, offer weekly supervision meetings and approve all time in workday for the Network Services team.
  • Supports on-site Manager on duty responsibilities (supporting the team in crisis intervention, de-escalation, and completes all required documentation.
  • Leads and offers support across teams to connect teams to various community partners, develops partnership agreements and maintenance space coordination.
  • Work independently and within teams on special non-recurring and ongoing projects.
  • Performs for all tasks in complex clinical studies.
  • Performs various administrative and operational tasks under moderate supervision. Acts as a resource on the basics of clinical research and related aspects of clinical study for other clinical research staff.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Minimum requirements include vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field (not typically required to have a four-year degree).

Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Experience:
  • Experience working with and/or providing care to LGBT populations, Black and Latino community members.
  • Experience providing HIV/STI testing and counseling.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Access and Word.

Preferred Competencies
