We currently have an exciting career opportunity in our Valuation Advisory Services team for a Complex Financial Instruments Managing Director based out of one of our nationwide offices in a hybrid capacity. The Managing Director will specialize in the valuation of structured financial product as further described in the Roles and Responsibilities section of this opportunity.

This position will support our Valuation Advisory Services team. CohnReznick's valuation professionals help companies understand the value their business, business interests, assets, liabilities, and securities to address a variety of objectives. Our CFI team performs valuations and creates customized models for complex financial instruments including equity-based compensation grants, equity securities and derivatives, fixed-income securities and derivatives, embedded derivatives, and earn-outs/contingent assets and liabilities. Our team also provides custom valuations for troubled debt restructuring, corporate income tax, estate tax, and other tax reporting requirements.

YOUR ROLE.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Develop new clients and opportunities specifically for the valuation of structured financial products, driving new client engagements and cross-selling services.
  • Identify clients, related engagement terms, services, products, and generate revenue in line with firm risk and profitability standards, with a focus on structured financial products.
  • Manage business development activities such as proposals, account teams, whitepapers, conferences, and other thought leadership material related to structured financial products.
  • Lead and participate in internal and external business development activities.
  • Collaborate closely with internal Advisory, Assurance, and Tax practices.
  • Represent the firm at relevant industry events, participating as a subject matter expert on panel discussions and developing thought leadership materials.
  • Work with firm Marketing and Business Development resources to enhance tactics supporting growth-oriented strategies for the practice.
  • Supervise and oversee all aspects of valuation engagements for structured financial products, coordinating the work performed by multiple service lines.
  • Serve as the day-to-day point person on engagements; lead meetings and calls with clients and target management.
  • Communicate best practices to assurance teams and external clients, assisting core assurance teams with valuation concepts and guidance specific to structured financial products.
  • Understand and manage firm risk on projects and proposals.
  • Maintain high standards of regulatory compliance and industry best practices in the valuation of structured financial products.
  • Manage client expectations concerning project deliverables and deadlines.
  • Work closely with managers, directors, and partners to promptly identify and resolve client problems or issues.
  • Communicate (verbally and in writing) with internal and external clients at all levels of the organization to successfully accomplish objectives, portraying knowledge and confidence.
  • Meet or exceed sales targets for new and follow-on work.
  • Meet or exceed targeted billing hours (utilization).

YOUR EXPERIENCE.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 15 years of related work experience in a similar consulting practice or function servicing cross-industry clients at a national level.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory audit review role.
  • CPA, CVA, CFA, FRM, ASA, or related valuation credentials.
  • Demonstrated experience in building industry practice and track record of generating revenue opportunities.
  • Strong technical background and experience in valuing structured financial products, including:
    • Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS)
    • Asset-Backed Securities (ABS)
    • Collateralized Debt Obligations (CDOs)
    • Collateralized Bond Obligations (CBOs)
    • Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLOs)
  • Strong technical background and experience in valuing other complex financial instruments; modeling in Microsoft Excel and VBA, MathWorks MATLAB or Oracle Crystal Ball, S&P Capital IQ, and Bloomberg.
  • Strong current knowledge in US GAAP, GAAS, SEC Reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and simultaneous projects in a rapidly growing practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership, business development, recruitment, training, and mentoring.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
