Project Summary:
The Computational Simulation Intern will support the Innovation team at Carlisle CCM by assisting in various computational modeling and simulation projects. This role will provide hands-on experience in applying finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation techniques to optimize the performance and durability of commercial roofing materials and systems. The intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to the development and improvement of innovative roofing solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Perform finite element analysis (FEA) using software such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, or COMSOL to assist in the design and optimization of roofing membranes, adhesives, and related materials.
* Develop and validate computational models to predict material performance under different environmental and mechanical conditions.
* Support cross-functional teams, including R&D, product development, and manufacturing, by providing modeling insights throughout the product development process.
* Assist in designing experiments and analyzing data using statistical methods and Design of Experiments (DOE).
* Contribute to technical documentation, including reports and presentations, summarizing findings and recommendations.
* Stay updated on advancements in computational modeling, FEA, and related technologies to support ongoing project needs.
Qualification:
* Currently enrolled in a master's or PhD program in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
* Basic understanding of polymers, physics, and statistical analysis, including DOE.
* Required experience with FEA software tools (e.g., ABAQUS, ANSYS, or COMSOL).
* Familiarity of CFD software tools is a plus.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn and apply new concepts.
* Good communication skills and an ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
