About the Role
We are looking for a Finance Director to join our Strategic Finance team for Uber Freight. Uber Freight is a fast-growing business where you would be responsible for owning the full P&L of the Brokerage, partnering closely with the Operations, Sales, and Commercial leadership teams for Uber Freight on key strategic decisions that drive shipper selection on our platform.

What You'll Do

Think strategically and then execute - the models we build aid in decision making and strategy (e.g. using customer profitability to influence capital allocation and strategy shifts) - we operationalize our insights

Platform Metrics - work closely with business divisions and finance leadership to develop platform metrics that show the scale and breadth of the Uber Freight Brokerage business, by applying business judgment and financial insights to assist with decision making

Month-End Close - lead the month-end close process for the Brokerage, including coordinating Revenue and Cost of Revenue journal entries with Accounting, tracking and reporting Operating Expense variability, and management reporting

Analyze variances between actuals, forecast, and plan - use insights to iterate on forecasts and create action

Sales Compensation - Drive thought leadership to evaluate and drive the sales compensation philosophy for Uber Freight

Sophisticated financial modeling - build models from scratch, improve existing models, break complex models down into components that consolidate - you can do it all

Help us scale / transition from startup to enterprise - Part of this is maturing our planning processes, part is ensuring finance best practices spread through the organization

Innovate - we will push the boundaries beyond traditional forecasting. Be creative, adaptive, and eager to learn new technical skill sets
Basic Qualifications: - BS/BA in Finance, Accounting, Economics
- Minimum of 5 years in corporate finance/operational FP&A/Sales Finance/Investment Banking/Consulting at either a high-growth tech startup or a large, well-established company
- Elite Excel skills - no other way to say it, you're a high-performer. Best practices are second-nature, your models are efficient, scalable, and intuitive - you can handle complexity but strive for simplicity
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP
- Systems - working knowledge of enterprise-level financial planning systems

- Attention to detail - consistent with swift execution. We need to do things quickly and we need to do them well. Striking that balance can be challenging and this should be a strength of yours
- Nice to have - MBA from premier program, CFA or CPA
- Nice to have - SQL/PowerBI/Tableau skills - the ability to self-serve, investigate and get the data we require will make you much more effective in this role
