Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

Texas Concrete is looking for a Dispatch Manager to join our team in the Houston , TX area. The Dispatch Manager reports to the Transportation Manager and is a key part of the Texas Materials Gulf Coast Area management team. This position is responsible for taking ownership of all activities and decisions that influence customer service and dispatch. The position's objectives are to ensure that customers are serviced properly, delivery is scheduled efficiently, and department goals are achieved. A key aspect of the role is managing, leading, and empowering the dispatch team members.

• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.

• Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.

• Manage and train Customer Service Representatives / Dispatcher team members.

• Set performance metrics and goals for team members and conduct employee reviews regularly to keep track of progress.

• Directs work of all employees involved in the daily operations of a Ready Mix Concrete dispatch office.

• Coordinate with VP/GM, Transportation Manager, sales team, QC, and operations to understand expectations for each specific job/project.

• Coordinate deliveries with company truck drivers & hire hauler fleet to ensure timely customer deliveries.

• Build rapport with customers and establish good working relationships.

• Make every effort to accommodate customer requests and negotiate acceptable delivery times without losing orders.

• Monitor orders and scheduling during the day and make adjustments as necessary to maintain customer service and best utilize fleet.

• Plan effective delivery routes and assign haulers & drivers for scheduled deliveries.

• Prepare invoices, delivery tickets and related shipping documents.

• Process plant production and received good tickets.

• Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.

• Regular availability to support team for overnight and weekends

• Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience in related function

• 3 to 5 years of experience in the materials delivery business with a working knowledge of delivery and plant equipment

• 3 plus years experience in customer service and dispatch.

Work Requirements

• Must be 18 years in age or older.

• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.

• Have a valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record.

• Be pro-active, self-motivated, self-starter who is action oriented and drives for results.

• Foster a collaborative, professional, courteous attitude and team-based approach.

• Highly ethical.

• Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

• Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required (up to 25%).

• Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.

• Must have the ability to work without close supervision.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

• Highly developed oral, verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work with management.

• Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information, in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.

• Knowledge of DOT regulations.

• Ability to be a self-starter and able to operate under general guidelines.

• Have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

• Be proficient in basic Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)

• Ability to work with a diverse group of people within the Company and with customers

• Ability to make presentations in front of many people.

• Ability to effectively work with customers, employees, and suppliers.

• Ability to provide and understand detailed information.

• Ability to analyze issues independently.

• Ability to perform under deadline pressure.

• Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.

• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

• Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.

• The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be moderate.
