Summary of Duties:

The EEO Investigator/Coordinator works with a team of investigators and support staff and is responsible for independently investigating student and employee complaints related to civil rights or discrimination and for coordinating University wide programs and policies relating to diversity management, accessibility, sexual harassment prevention, and other human rights topics. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: conducting inquiries and formal investigations as warranted and writing investigative reports of findings; developing and reviewing prevention and response programs and policies to address discrimination and sexual misconduct; providing information and interpretation to students and employees regarding University policies; coordinating and conducting University-wide training and educational activities; and coordinating and participating in University-wide committees. This position requires a significant amount of writing.


Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Experience conducting administrative or legal investigations or similar experience fact-finding and/or assessing complex matters.

  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills.

  • Experience writing detailed reports, carefully analyzing information, reviewing and processing detailed documents, handling confidential issues, and giving presentations.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in applying and interpreting federal and state laws, regulations, and rules in the workplace.

  • A demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a diverse team-oriented environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Law degree or Master's degree in a relevant field (human resources, management, education, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Title IX regulation and requirements.

  • Knowledge of ADA laws and requirements.

  • Knowledge of EEO laws and requirements.

  • Experience working in higher education.

  • Demonstrated committed to fostering a culture of inclusiveness.

  • Fluency in a second language.

  • Working knowledge of WSU administrative environment.

Annual Salary:

$59,305.20 - $71,660.00

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range. For additional information, please review WSU's Administrative Professional Compensation. Overtime Eligibility:

Overtime Eligibility will be dependent upon final salary placement.

Background Check:

This position has been designated by the department to require a background check because it requires access to children or vulnerable adults as defined by RCW 74.34, engages in law enforcement, requires security clearance, interacts with WSU students in a counseling or advising capacity, has access to personal identifying and/or financial information, unsupervised access to university buildings/property, or other business-related need.
