Job Description:
Join our dynamic team as a Program Manager II in the Nebraska Office of Environmental Health Hazards and Indoor Air, where you'll be the go-to expert for critical public health initiatives! You'll lead the Asbestos and Lead-Based Paint Programs while supervising the Radon and Indoor Air Quality Programs.

This pivotal role involves managing federal grants and contracts, overseeing budgets, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. You'll provide vital public assistance on various health issues, conduct project inspections, and collaborate with health professionals to address environmental health hazards. Job Duties include:

  • Providing public assistance for Asbestos, Lead-Based Paint, Radon, and Indoor Air Quality issues including mold, mercury spills, cleanup and disposal, and Mercury call-in line coverage.
  • Performing and reviewing project notifications and inspections to determine compliance with regulations including the review of license applications, and renewals.
  • Guiding health professionals regarding investigations of incidents and potential environmental health hazards and preparing technical reports.
  • Preparing documents related to enforcement actions for violations of associated regulations.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, social/behavioral sciences, education, health sciences, public health, education, law or related field and one year experience in program planning, implementation, budgeting, monitoring, evaluating, marketing a program or service and supervising/managing staff. Related coursework, training and/or education may substitute for the Bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, SharePoint, and PowerPoint preferred. Working knowledge of the principles and practices of environmental health, physical or life sciences, occupational or health safety, experience or training in the preparation of grants, budgets, and technical reports.

Other: A valid Nebraska motor vehicle operator's license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the principles and practices of environmental health; Federal and State laws, Nebraska rules and regulations; the equipment and techniques used for asbestos and lead abatement, indoor air inspections and radon measurement and mitigation; and the principles of investigations and regulation enforcement pertinent to environmental health.

Ability to interpret and apply state and federal laws and standards, agency rules, policies and procedures, and technical narrative material; communicate effectively; effectively interact with program representatives and the public; apply instructions.

Skills: Good public speaking and presentation skills are a must.
