Hours: PT Nights - Thursday night and Saturday night 1030p-7a (16 hrs per week)Job Summary:
Functions under the direction of the Chief Technologist, Medical Imaging Manager and/or Director Diagnostic Services. The Records Clerks assist with providing exam reports to physicians, distribution of phone calls for the department and a variety of clerical tasks that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of computers and other equipment.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Support Staff Services
* Digitize analog films as necessary for radiologist interpretation.
* Fax results as needed
* Mail out necessary reports if needed
* Burn CDs and films to distribute following the proper ID protocol
* Monitor phones and assist physicians from film library and from Radiologist Reading Room.
* Calls appropriate staff when oral contrast distribution is needed.
Monitor and answer department phones
* Answer phone to guide customers in providing necessary information and directions regarding the purpose of the call in a professional manner by utilizing the AIDET technique.
* Successfully transfer calls
* Distribute calls where needed (Radiologist, modalities, etc )
* Answer phone to guide customers in providing necessary information and directions regarding the purpose of the call in a professional manner
* Clear all phone messages left on a daily basis.
Clerical Tasks
* Knowledge of the Addendum process
* Check mail daily in both locations and process to the appropriate modalities
* Knowledge of checking our images upon patients or physicians request to follow the DPP policy.
* Verifies patient orders in Epic and calls physicians to retrieve them as needed
* Notifies appropriate modality when verbal orders are needed
* Copy and fax, sort mail, hand out reports and memos
* Help other office workers, physicians and technologist.
* Knows how to digitize film.
* Checks for patient orders prior to arrival. Call physician offices for orders.
* Release reports to patients upon request.
Ability to work in a PACS/RIS environment
* Knowledge to navigate in PACS, Epic and other computer programs pertinent to job.
* Knowledge to order and cancel exams as needed.
* Knowledge of printing and faxing reports to referring physicians and document data in PACS
* Ability to Import/Export images to PACS
* Monitors the STAT work list and calls/faxes results to appropriate area/physician office per procedure
Patient Satisfaction
* Utilize proper AIDET techniques
* Meets Service Recovery and Customer Service Guidelines as needed.
* Performs patient advocate role for families and patients while in the Womens Imaging Department.
* Identify patients by utilizing 2 patient identifiers.
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education:
High School Graduate Required
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
