Project Summary:
The Industrial Engineering intern will work with the Production and Quality groups to optimize throughput in a variety of operations. Projects will focus on determining capacity constraints and avoiding bottlenecks in the plant.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Candidate will be involved in a variety of projects throughout mixing, conventional, and extruded operations. Project work will be assigned depending on current needs of the plant. Projects or tasks may include but not limited to:
* Assist in creating/updating SOP documents at various operations.
* Help develop the training program for crews in production operations.
* Participate and follow up on EHS, Hazard and Ergonomic Analysis Audits
* Throughput optimization work at the ERH, ASBM and Conventional vulcanizers.
* Assist in short sheet analysis at the Clean Sheet Winders
* Throughput and gauge analysis work at the ERH
* Downtime and changeover time reduction at the slitter and fleece operations.
* Investigate F370 Mixer capacity of white versus black rubber stock.
Qualification:
* Candidate pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science or Chemistry. Background and an interest in rubber (or plastics) processing & equipment are preferred.
* A minimum of 3.0 GPA required.
* Candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills.
* Candidate should have the ability to work an 8-hour day.
* Candidate should have the ability to use Excel in a capacity to build data analysis spreadsheets and charts.
Additional Information:
This internship is located in the Carlisle, PA EPDM plant. Travel will be minimal.
