Job Summary:
A LIS (Laboratory Information Systems) Analyst is a member of the LIS team and is expected to have knowledge and is able to work on multiple applications within the LIS area of responsibilities.
Major Applications include: Sunquest, Co-Path, Blood Bank, Collection Manager, RALS, and Epic Beaker
POCT include: Abbott Glucose, Roche Glucose, iStat, IL Gem 4000, Acciva Avox, Siemens Rapidpoint, Abbott Precision Xceed Pro, Radiometer Blood Gas
Other applications and POCT will be added as this area expands.
Major Programs include: General Laboratory, Chemistry, Microbiology Hematology, Pathology and Blood Bank.
A LIS (Laboratory Information Systems) Analyst, provides application implementation support, technical guidance, and works LIS issues as they are assigned. May include, but not limited to Epic Beaker, SafeTrace Tx, Sunquest, CoPath, Blood Bank, Collection Manager, RALS and Epic EHR. Works collaboratively with end-users to understand workflows and to provide excellent customer support. Performs related tasks to remain in compliance with CAP, JCAHO, AABB, and HIPPA regulations. Monitors instrument interface status. Able to perform project management task.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Administration of application environment day to day activities
- Provides application implementation support, and works on task and tickets as assigned by their manager and other Senior LIS analyst.
- Understands Laboratory workflows, and is able to trouble shoot and resolve operational workflow issues as they arise.
- Work with the team to ensure all LIS applications are in compliance with CAP, JCAHO, AABB, and HIPPA regulations.
- Adheres to HIPAA regulations for transactions, security and confidentiality.
- Monitors instrument interface status
- Guides and advises less-experienced LIS analysts.
- Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.
- Operations and Maintenance Supports and maintains WellStar Laboratory applications to ensure that organizational business and clinical needs are met.
- Is able to work on assigned phases of the IT application delivery life cycle and provides high level and individual support
- Ensures WellStars Change Control process is followed.
- Monitors and works incidents via the WellStar IT incident ticket system. Ensures that SLAs are being met.
- Maintains current knowledge and certifications of the applications that you support.
- Customer Satisfaction Ensure Customers are using the provided LIS applications effectively and without issue. Provides on-going project management and status reporting
- Works on project task at the direction of Senior LIS team members and the Manager of LIS with minimal supervision. Is able to create task work plans and meet assign deadlines, and develop appropriate documentation, and provides timely status reports.
- Works collaboratively with end-users to understand workflows and is able to support the workflow.
- Manages and escalates issues.
- Manages the Scope and Change Management Process for all LIS applications to include implementation, optimization and support special updates (SUs) and upgrades.
- Makes recommendations for improvements
- Maintain close communication and work with other analyst along with the Manager of LIS.
- Acts as a liaison between the LIS team, other application teams, the infrastructure team, providers, clinicians, vendors and operations.
- Ability to coordinate and integrate project, and break/fix activities,
- Identifies and manages risk factors associated with your applications, and programs during implementation, optimization and support.
- Develops and monitors testing scenarios and methodologies to demonstrate system effectiveness. Prepares and maintains documentation on testing plans.
- Participates an occasionally leads in the completion of user documentation and training procedures.
Required Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree Required and
BS/BA Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field Required and
Preferred training and certification in one or more of the following:
Epic Beaker CP & AP application build, administration, instrument interface
Sunquest/Co-Path application build, administration, instrument interface
Blood Bank application build, administration, instrument interface
RALS POC (Point of Care) build, administration, instrument interface
Preferred
