POSITION PURPOSE:
Direct and lead the implementation and ongoing execution of American Woodmark's Lean Manufacturing initiative throughout the entire plant operation with the goal to deliver superior operating results and to further enhance our customer's total quality experience.

Experience
* Must have a demonstrated history of successfully leading and facilitating changes that involve all levels of employees with measurable results.
* Prior lean certification and experience in implementation of lean manufacturing is a strong plus, however individuals that meet the other skill requirements will receive the appropriate training in lean manufacturing.
Skills
* Ability to learn new concepts and pass the knowledge along to others in classroom and practical experience.
* Proven ability to lead associates through coaching and mentoring.
* Candidates should be highly energized and self-motivated with experience working with teams to implement change and be adept at communicating with all levels to get everyone on board.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
* Track record of successful project management and team experience.
* Personal computer skills in a networked environment, Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access) required.
* Management style and duties must be consistent with and support 2019 Vision and CITE principles.
Education
* Degree in technical field or equivalent hands-on training preferred.





ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Provide active design, leadership, and advocacy of a continuous improvement culture.
* Utilizing Value Stream Mapping, support the plant Lean strategy.
* Facilitate teams of employees engaged in lean activity planning and execution of these plans.
* Develop clearly defined deliverables for Lean in accordance with the company's scorecard system.
* Serve as a facilitator for Lean activities, working with leadership across the business enterprise to train, communicate, standardize, sustain and facilitate the implementation of Lean.
* Build strong and positive working relationships with all functional areas across the location, including them in the improvement activities and understanding their needs.
* Provide training and develop appropriate programs to educate employees in the principles of Lean manufacturing.
* Drive Kaizen events and follow-up to ensure proper progress and the continuity of the lean efforts toward the optimization and removal of waste.
* Assist location through best practice sharing and the implementation of Lean concepts from AWC and other within their operations.
* Conduct all activities and behave in a method that is strictly consistent with the Company's CITE Principals and Supporting Values while striving to help the Company achieve its Vision.
* Supervisory Responsibilities:
* May include responsibilities to directly supervise and manage the daily activities of one or more employees. Responsibilities do include the indirect supervision, coordination, and management of multiple employees as they are engaged in Lean activities. Also responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the plant's lean activities. Will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employee; addressing complaints and resolving problems.





SCOPE - EXPECTATIONS:
* Communication Skills:
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
* Ability to listen and communicate effectively with customers/clients/providers in an effort to coordinate team activities to support meeting the business objectives.
* Ability to develop presentations to be delivered to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
* Mathematical Skills:
* Ability to apply statistical and mathematical concepts as related to problem analysis and corrective action..
* Reasoning Ability:
* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, utilize process and value stream mapping, and draw valid conclusions.
* Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively.
* Team Leadership:
* Ability to effectively and efficiently lead cross functionally as well as with suppliers and customers.
* Physical Demands:
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk in a shop floor environment, sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to lift 50 lbs on an occasional basis.
* Working Environment:
* Typical office and plant manufacturing floor environment. The noise level is usually moderate. Out-of-town travel to other manufacturing locations to assist lean activities at those sites is required. 15% travel is expected. Weekend and off shift is expected.
* Reports to: Production Manager
* Recruitment process may consist of any combination of phone, video and in person interviews.
* Offers may be contingent upon successful completion of Background Check, Drug Screen, Physical Examination and/or potential Motor Vehicle Check.
