Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. The role of the Ladle furnace operatoris responsibly, safely, and efficiently preparing heats to be sent to the caster. This includes ensuring that the steel chemistry, slag, and superheat are all within the defined parameters for the required grade and caster.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6 months previous steel experience
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
  • Ability to withstand working conditions with elevated temperatures.
  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy weight (50 lbs.)
