Manager- Educational Technology Audio Visual Events & Production

General Statement of Job:
The Manager- ET Audio Visual Events Production designs and manages the audio visual (AV) services for special events college-wide from pre-production, scheduling resources, production, and post-production, and directs all live event programs including STC Graduation commencement ceremonies and College Wide Professional Development Day. This position designs and directs audio, video, and lighting resources and manages event support staff. The Manager- ET Audio Visual Events Production is also responsible for the production design and operation of small to large-scale audiovisual systems with a focus on audio, video display, video and audio streaming to the web, computer resources, lighting, and rigging for live events while ensuring quality and client satisfaction. This position directly supervises the ET Audio Visual Production Team, staff, and other departmental staff as needed.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. AV Director for special event programs; STC Graduation Commencement, College-Wide Professional Development Day and other major events
  2. Analyzes, evaluates, and develops AV support package for special events.
  3. Evaluate, and manage planning and logistics with institutional departments, community organizations, and business entities.
  4. Represents Educational Technologies as department liaison to clients and institutional stakeholders for special events.
  5. Supervises the production of digital video and finalizes all video editing and post-production work into a finished product.
  6. Supervises the production of reports and presentations on project activities and communicates project status updates with clients.
  7. Supervises the creation, maintenance, and archival of all event project documentation including video storage and archiving
  8. Supervises the analysis, evaluation and management of AV equipment procurement, demo testing, maintenance, transportation, and secures storage.
  9. Evaluates, implements, and promotes AV equipment and services that meet the needs of the institution.
  10. Produces reports and presentations on project activities and communicates project status updates with clients
  11. Manages and directs all special events staff and other departmental staff as needed.
  12. Develops, refines, and shares event planning processes to provide continual improvement in interdepartmental communication and efficiency.
  13. Develops and mentor staff effectively, creates an environment of continual improvement, and inspires employee morale.
  14. Conducts daily and weekly team meetings, providing value and insight into staffing and technology requirements for best event execution. Develops accountability with staff to attain goals and pursue excellence.
  15. Daily management of staffing, adapting to requirement changes and staffing attendance.
  16. Provides technical and logistical scope of work documentation for vendor services.
  17. Develops and maintains a safe working environment. Adheres to OSHA regulations and maintains safety procedures for staff.
  18. Identify best practices for audio and video and evolve daily operations as necessary
  19. Is able and equipped to complete typical tasks remotely as needed.
  20. Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  2. Minimum five (5) years of experience in the audio-visual industry required.
  3. Minimum three (3) years of experience in supporting special events required.
  4. Avixa Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) preferred.


Checks, Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
  1. All applicants are subject to a criminal background check under South Texas College policy.
  2. Security Sensitive position: In addition, subject to a federal background check.
  3. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and proof of liability insurance.
  4. Certified Technology Specialist certification preferred.
