Position Summary:The Accounting Manager, along with the Controller, is responsible for managing the financialaccounting and reporting activities of the College and Foundation and ensuring the timely andaccurate recording of college-wide transactions, financial reporting, and monthly and year-endclosings.
Reporting and Supervisory Relationships:
- Direct reporting relationship to the Controller/Director of Business Services
- Direct supervisory relationship with grant accountant
Essential Responsibilities:
- Coordinates preparations for financial audits with the Controller.
- Assists in the preparation of work papers and supporting schedules for annual audit.
- Prepares/Performs numerous and varied Excel spreadsheets, reports, account analyses, as needed to assist the Controller and VP of Finance.
- Assist in designing improved financial reports and processes.
- Backup to the Controller for various bank related duties.
- Prepares annual SEFA (Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards) and support for Grant program.
- Manages and monitors outstanding accounts receivables for grants & contracts; prioritizes the collection process.
- Perform analytics related to budget vs. actual and develop commentaries to explain material differences.
- Review and submit fiscal reports for the funding sources.
- Assist in formulating procedures and operating policies to assure continuing compliance with grant & contract related accounting and financial reporting.
- Prepares co-op and chargeback enrollment reports.
- Reconcile sponsorship billing.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:Employee is subject to indoor work, and protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, public administration or related field.
- Three to five years of related accounting experience.
- Demonstrated experience with an integrated computer accounting system, proficiency with MS Excel or other spreadsheet software (intermediate level).
- Ability to develop, analyze and interpret policy and procedures, as well as financial data.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, public administration or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certificate.
- Three years of experience in fund accounting.
- Familiarity with GASB, FASB, AICPA and NACUBO accounting pronouncements and guidance.
Anticipated Work Hours and Days:Monday thru Friday, 8a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
