The Wharton AI & Analytics Initiative (WAIAI) is advancing cutting-edge applications of AI and data science in modern business, with the keen understanding that artificial intelligence is transforming how we live, learn, and work. WAIAI spearheads innovative student learning experiences, faculty research opportunities, and thought partnerships with industry experts and practitioners. Our work also extends to K-12 education, preparing the next generation to leverage AI and data science to its full potential, as well as executive education to train the existing workforce in modern AI and statistical methods. WAIAI brings together five research centers at Wharton: AI at Wharton, Generative AI Lab, Neuroscience Initiative, People Analytics, and the Sports Analytics and Business Initiative.
The Manager of Experiential Learning Programs will advance the goals of The Wharton AI & Analytics Initiative by leading the design, scope, and execution of experiential learning and research projects. This role manages WAIAI's suite of experiential learning programs, collaborating with industry partners, students, academic communities, and internal departments. The Manager of Experiential Learning Programs works closely with external partners and the WAIAI data/research team to manage data access, transfer, storage, preparation, and documentation for these projects and serves as a liaison to students and researchers, assisting them with understanding the analytics problem and business questions, and using and understanding the data. The Manager of Experiential Learning Programs also leads staff peers and provides/organizes supplemental workshops and programs to enhance the student experience while also focusing on the scaling and expansion of these initiatives to meet diverse student skill levels.
Job Description
Duties:
Manages WAIAI's suite of experiential learning programs including the AI and Analytics Accelerator, the Hack-AI-thon, AI Award with Venture Lab, and other new programming.
Collaborates with the Director of Data Science and Research to scope out student experiential learning projects and engage with industry partners and other stakeholders to bring these programs from concept to completion.
Leads their staff peers, including the WAIAI data/research team and other foundation staff to support these projects and provide supplemental workshops and programs to enhance the student experience.
Manages and executes the High School Data Science Competition.
Manages the scaling and expansion of experiential learning programs under the Wharton AI and Analytics strategic initiative. This includes collaborating with various internal departments across Wharton.
Teaches technical workshops and develops new online course material offered by the WAIAI data/research team.
Develops presentations, content, and other custom projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's Degree preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience with databases and data analysis tools.
- Proficiency in Python or R, and Data Visualization.
- Familiarity with cloud computing services like AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Familiarity with AI tools/services like LLMs, ChatGPT, and the OpenAI API.
- Familiarity with database design and management.
- Experience with survey design, data collection, and survey data analysis.
- Experience with human subject research.
- Familiarity with survey software like Qualtrics, Prolific, or SurveyMonkey Apply.
- Extensive experience in mentoring or technical project management with students.
- Extensive experience with teaching and/or online course development.
- Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills.
- Detail-oriented and experienced in leading projects from end to end.
