The Media Services Technical specialist reports to the Media and Event Services supervisor. This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, operation, and installation of all media equipment owned by the college. In addition, the position provides technical support to students, faculty, staff, and administrators in the use of media equipment and assists the Educational Television and Video Production staff with television and satellite facilities and functions.
Maintain, repair, and install media equipment at all Waubonsee Community College locations, keeping an up-to-date replacement parts inventory and a service and operation manual library for all Media Services equipment.
Assist in the scheduling and distribution of media equipment to all of the college campuses.
Maintain equipment inventory database.
Provide instruction to faculty, staff, administrators, and students in the use of media equipment and facilities.
Provide media equipment technical support for all campus functions and activities.
Supply media equipment technical support to campus departments, as requested.
Assist in the production of instructional media in the multimedia production center.
Maintain, repair, and operate the auditorium lighting and audio systems, providing technical support and training in the use of the lighting and audio systems for college-sponsored and external rental auditorium functions.
Maintain and operate the audio system in the Erickson Hall gymnasium and field house.
Assist the Media and Event Services supervisor with all departmental operations, and assumes responsibility for the department in the absence of the Media and Event Services supervisor.
Provide multimedia design solutions or specifications for Request for Proposals.
Operate and maintain server-based media console system which monitors all media control devices and endpoints.
Program or re-program touch control systems as appropriate in cases of redesign or malfunction.
Review and evaluate vendor proposals and provide technical recommendation for vendor selection.
Assist part-time media technicians with troubleshooting and technical problem resolution.
Document all media-related problem resolution in knowledge base.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum of three years' experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of media and electronic equipment required.
Excellent computer skills.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Good interpersonal and organizational skills necessary. Ability to interact with all levels of management, faculty, staff and students necessary.
