The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is accepting applications for an Office Support Associate at the University Laboratory High School. This position provides clerical support for the business/main office of the school through positive public relations, a high level of efficiency and knowledge of office practices and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for collecting and maintaining student attendance information. This includes, but not limited to, communication with parents, students, and staff in person, telephone, email, or letter. Ensures accuracy of attendance records. Maintains a variety of attendance records, schedules, and files.
  • Responsible for greeting and directing visitors, responding to inquiries from staff, public, parents, and students. This includes answering main office phone system, screening calls, transferring calls, responding to inquiries, and taking messages. Monitor secured access by screening individuals entering building as appropriate and ensuring visitors follow sign-in procedures.
  • Responsible for processing cash deposits.
  • Assist business manager in reconciling p-card and t-card transactions, as well as employee reimbursements and vendor payments.
  • Assist with communication and logistics for the school lunch program. Other duties assigned as needed by business manager or school Director.
Position Qualifications

Required-
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Any one or combination totaling eighteen (18) months from the categories below:
    • College coursework in any curriculum as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
      • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
      • Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
    • Work experience performing office/clerical activities, including the use of computer systems.


Preferred-
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets.
  • One (1) year experience in K-12 school system.
Successful candidates will have the following-
  • Knowledge of university systems (Chrome River, TEM, iBuy, etc).
  • Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use mature, sound judgment and initiative.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and ability to handle confidential materials accurately.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. Organized with attention to details and be able to multitask.
Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 0846 - Office Support Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. Minimum salary for this position is $36,901.80. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering factors such as available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through a thorough assessment of these elements. Work authorization is not available for this position.
