Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Comprehensive Oral Health houses several disciplines including, Periodontology, Dental Hygiene, Comprehensive Dentistry, Operative Dentistry/BioMaterials, Prosthodontics, and Endodontics. The Dental Hygiene discipline focuses on the practice of keeping the mouth, teeth, and gums clean and healthy to prevent disease.
Position Summary:The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time, year-round faculty member in the Dental Hygiene program. The faculty will establish a robust practice providing hands-on patient care in the Dental Faculty Practice. This position will also focus on clinical and preclinical teaching, supervising students providing patient care, and remediation of dental hygiene and dental students.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:Applicants must have graduated from a CODA-accredited Dental Hygiene program.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Minimum of two years of clinical dental hygiene experience and two years of part-time or full-time academic experience. Dental Hygiene educational experience, with preference to teaching experiences with dental hygiene and predoctoral dental students. Evidence supporting dedication to innovative teaching and pursuance of career growth and development. Demonstrated innovations in teaching, diverse teaching experiences, and evidence to support completion of professional courses enhancing teaching skills. The successful candidate should enjoy interacting with students, have excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, decision-making, verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching, patient care, and community service.
