Manages the daily operations of the unit. Monitors operations for efficiency and safety, ensuring all applicable regulatory requirements are met. Responsible for coordination of all production and maintenance activities within the unit as well as assists in the execution of plant improvement efforts, project setups, and shutdown planning and execution. Works with other employees on specific training requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Provides daily leadership for supervision and operating employees and defines and communicates operational needs in order to improve safety and environmental compliance, reduce usages and energy consumption, improve yields, minimize waste, increase occupancy, and lower costs.
  • Manages production staff, including the training of personnel.
  • Ensure the safety and safe work performance of employees.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and manufacturing policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot process operating issues and product quality issues.
  • Achieves production schedules to meet internal goals as well as expectations of customers (attends the weekly production schedule meeting).
  • Responsible for weekly prioritization of operations and maintenance activities.
  • Attend daily maintenance meeting to help prioritize workload/NTL/Schedule and overnight events/WOs.
  • Operate within budgetary constraints while meeting production and product quality goals.
  • Responsible for issuing/managing/approving permits for the following: Confined space entry, high energy hot work, low energy hot work, and general safe work permits. Permits with energy control and line equipment opening. Need to be able to know about high voltage permitting and excavation permit requirements.
  • Subject matter expert in permitting, lock out tag out. Review employees that are training in the permit and lock out tag out process, to make sure they are meeting all the required criteria. This will determine the final sign off document to ensure the employee has been trained properly to meet our requirements.
  • Do visual walk throughout and air monitoring (LEL) first thing in the morning and periodically to ensure areas are safe to work in before issuing any permits.
  • Participates in outage planning and execution, making sure that equipment is getting prepped, locked out tagged out properly, and SWP's issued and ensures startup and aligns shutdown tasks with outage activities.
  • Conducts SWP, PUP, housekeeping, procedure, and other process-related audits.
  • Attend bi-weekly MI meetings.
Education Qualifications
  • Required High School or Equivalent High School Diploma
Experience Qualifications
  • Required 5+ years in the operations field qualified in all areas.
Skills and Abilities
  • SME Permitting of general/ high hot work/ Confine space/ LOTO.
  • Need good trouble shooting and communication skills.
  • Maintain General/TF/Loading/Structure/Board qualifications
  • Maintain Incident Commander and Emergency Response qualifications
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
  • Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long periods of time, up to 12 hours per day.
  • Sitting. Working from a seated position for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Climbing. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms one to two times per day.
  • Balancing. Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling and walking, standing or crouching on narrow or slippery surfaces.
  • Stooping. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching. Bending the body downward and forward by bending legs and spine.
  • Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Pushing. Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force, exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force consistently to move objects forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling. Using upper extremities to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 15 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force consistently to draw, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting. Raising objects up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 15 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds consistently from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
  • Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Possible subject to environmental conditions. Activities could occur inside and outside.
  • Subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 for periods of more than one hour.
  • Subject to vibration. Exposure to movements of the extremities or whole body. Operate/drive utility vehicle.
  • Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE for tasks as required. FRC uniform, hard hat, safety toe work boots, safety glasses, gloves etc.
