Optical EngineerBiomedical Engineering
Location: New Orleans, LA
SummaryThe Optical Engineer develops novel high-space-bandwidth-time-product optical microscopy systems for biomedical surgical vision applications and works closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the success of the project.
Tulane's School of Science and Engineering is beginning a multi-year project to improve outcomes for prostate and colorectal cancer surgical patients. The project will involve rapidly scanning tumor excisions with high resolution and precision and then using advanced machine-learning techniques to detect residual tumor cells on the surface. The project will create a device to scan and present results to a surgeon while still in the operating room. This state-of-the-art device will be at the forefront of cancer treatment.
