Description
The Humanities Collegiate Division and the Department of East Asian Languages & Civilizations at the University of Chicago invites applications for part-time Lecturers during the 2024-25 academic year.
The selected candidate will have part-time teaching opportunities in various courses of the Korean Language curriculum. Responsibilities include preparing and teaching seminar-style language courses at various levels (elementary, intermediate, and/or advanced), holding regularly scheduled office hours, and the preparing and grading of assignments and testing materials. Depending on the curricular needs of the department, the successful candidate may teach between one and four courses per academic year.
The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the University and Service Employees International Union. The per-course salary for academic year 2024-25 will be at least $7,538. This position is not benefits eligible.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Master's degree or equivalent in Korean Linguistics and/or language pedagogy or a related field, superior proficiency in Korean and English according to ACTFL guidelines, and experience teaching Korean at the college or post-secondary level.
