Our Team - The Doorway

The Doorway is a program operated by Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, where we complete assessments, coordinate referrals to treatment and provide trauma-informed supportive services for anyone living with a substance use disorder. Our team is made up of administrative front desk staff, case managers and licensed clinical therapists. Our main goal is to help people regardless of where they are in their road to recovery get the help they need. Available trauma informed services include:

  • Crisis management
  • Continuous recovery support
  • Facilitated access to treatment and recovery
  • Clinical assessments and referrals
  • Narcan (Naloxone) and other harm reduction supplies
  • Interim support and care while waiting for substance abuse treatment
  • Referrals and/or connections to sober living
  • Walk in appointments
The Opportunity

We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Patient Access Representative to join our team! This is an in-person position located at 798 Central Ave, Dover, NH. The ideal schedule is Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm, or the team can accommodate 8:00am-4:30pm if needed for flexibility.

The Patient Access Representative will be responsible for managing both in and outbound calls as well as scheduling and registration functions for patients of the Wentworth Douglass Health Systems (WDHS). The individual is typically the first point of contact for patients entering WDHS. They will specialize in providing exceptional customer service with both internal and external customers, creating new patient medical records, verifying insurance eligibility, collecting demographic information and offering applicable documents. The Patient Access Rep. must be able to hold in-depth financial conversations with patients in order to provide cost transparency and improve financial success of the organization.

When hiring, we look for candidates who not only possess relevant skills, but also positive attitudes, innovative spirits, and genuine passion for the work.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, or equivalent experience minimum of 1 year working in a customer service setting required.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working in a customer service setting, and/or clerical experience, or equivalent education required.
  • Possess a high level of empathy and compassion for individuals struggling with both mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Have a general disposition that people would describe as caring.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and insurance authorization preferred.
  • Strong computer skills.
