Job Summary
The Opportunity: Patient Care Associate (PCA) The Center for Operative Care (CPC) is a 33 bed unit. In collaboration with the nursing team, the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists in preparing patients for surgery and in the recovery of patients who are going home on the same day as their surgery. The CPC also cares for a small population of psychiatry patients receiving ECT treatments. It is a fast paced unit with approximately 120 patients per day coming through the unit for elective surgery and about 60 - 70 patients who recover and go home after surgery. Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, detailed patient care environment. PCA assists patients with daily living needs, supervising & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and acquiring EKGs. Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, supervising patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner. Qualifications

Qualifications - External - Required: Must have recent experience, and/or training, in clinical patient care. - Preferred: Licensed, certified, or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire, OR - Candidate enrolled in a Nursing, Pre-Med, PA undergraduate program, with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed, at time of hire.
