As part of the Department of Psychiatry, Neurodevelopment & Psychosis Section, PEIC/HeadsUp is a statewide center funded through the PA Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) to provide comprehensive services around first episode psychosis across Pennsylvania. The PEIC provides a full array of services related to training, education, clinical care, and program evaluation in early intervention. The Community Outreach and Clinical Support Specialist provides expert support with minimal supervision to the Pennsylvania Early Intervention Center (PEIC)/HeadsUp Co-Directors, Manager, Community Outreach Coordinator, Education and Telehealth Manager and affiliated faculty and staff, in the areas of community outreach and clinical activities.

PEIC/HeadsUp Community Outreach and Clinical Support Specialist

The Community Outreach and Clinical Support Specialist (“Specialist”)provides expert support with minimal supervision to the Pennsylvania Early Intervention Center (PEIC)/HeadsUp Co-Directors, Manager, Community Outreach Coordinator, Education and Telehealth Manager and affiliated faculty and staff, in the areas of community outreach and clinical activities. Responsibilities include: developing, launching and then coordinating, facilitating, and expanding the screening and referral of individuals experiencing early psychosis who may be eligible to receive services through our Pennsylvania First Episode Psychosis (PA FEP) Centers to the PA FEP Center of best-fit (e.g., geographically) or connecting these individuals to alternative treatment resources; overseeing and coordinating early psychosis recruitment and screening for related clinical research studies; leading outreach presentations and events throughout the state of Pennsylvania, both virtually and in-person, increasing awareness of early psychosis and facilitating referrals to PA FEP programs; assisting the PEIC/HeadsUp team in triaging and responding to HeadsUp Early Psychosis Mentor educational consultation requests, as appropriate, including researching and connecting to relevant organizations to establish and maintain a state-wide network of community resources and developing and maintaining a bank of resources and responses. The Specialist will provide joint supervision (along with the PEIC/HeadsUp Center Manager) for administrative staff as it relates to outreach and clinical support. The Specialist reports to the PEIC/HeadsUp Center Manager.

Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related field and 2-3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required. A Master's degree in Psychology or related field preferred. Familiarity with early psychosis, clinical and research screening procedures, and/or other related experience in the mental health field required. Strong oral and written communication skills required; experience engaging and interacting with audiences, and supervisory experience preferred. Advanced skills in Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint/Publisher/Microsoft Office Suite, iConnect, Appointments Plus, Oracle and listserv software packages, and ability to effectively use the Internet required; familiarity with Mac computers/operating systems preferred. The position requires someone with excellent organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines and priorities, whether working autonomously or as part of a team. The Specialist must be able to exercise sound judgment and discretion in working with confidential and sensitive matters. Knowledge of the University of Pennsylvania environment, rural/urban/suburban Pennsylvania, and global health interest/experience are highly desirable.
