Walla Walla Community College is accepting applications to fill the part-time role of Plant & Soil Instructor on the Walla Walla Campus.

General Responsibilities:
Teaching responsibilities may include several of the following courses: Basic Soil Science, Soil Fertility & Management, Soil Ecology & Biogeochemistry, Weed Biology & Identification, Irrigation Principles, Irrigation Controls, Agriculture Safety & Pesticide Licensing, or others pertinent to the ideal candidate's area of expertise. There are other opportunities to assist in the curriculum development and instruction in Agricultural Sciences and Systems courses and a new “Farm to Fork” collaboration between Agriculture, Culinary Arts, and other related programs. Course levels taught may be 100-level introductory courses up to 400-level bachelors' courses, depending upon qualifications.
Essential Responsibilities:
Teach assigned classes at scheduled time and placeDemonstrate professional skills appropriate to the teaching assignmentProvide each student with a comprehensive syllabus at the beginning of the quarterProvide clear explanations, assignments, and directionsConduct appropriate and frequent evaluations of student performance and provide feedback so students are aware of their performance throughout the quarterAssign and submit grades based upon results of evaluations and college grading policy Maintain student records and grades in the College's LMSPost and be available during office hours that are reasonable for student accessMaintain course outlines and syllabi to reflect program curriculumReview and recommend program textbooks, materials, and technologyUtilize available technology appropriate to assignmentCompetencies

Student success teaching strategies Outcomes-based learning AssessmentEquity, diversity and inclusionDigital and information literacyCommitment to continuing education, learning and improvement in the discipline or program of expertiseRequired Qualifications: Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of the college. Must reside in either WA, OR, ID, CA, IL, PA, or TX. Bachelor's Degree in Crop Science, Soil Science, or related field and professional expertise in the field of study.Demonstrated proficiency teaching at the college-level; teaching experience as a teaching assistant or adjunct instructor may count towards the requirement.Preferred QualificationsMaster's Degree in Crop Science, Soil Science, or related fieldExperience working in agronomyExperience teaching Plant and Soil Science at a community collegeExperience facilitating undergraduate researchExperience working with, and relating to, people from varied cultural, ethnic, gender, age, socioeconomic and educational backgroundsBilingual, Spanish/English desiredYou don't check every qualification listed? Conditions/Terms of Employment
This is a part-time instruction assignment contingent on enrollment and located at the Walla Walla Campus. Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful employment to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment and provide transcripts. WWCC participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. Candidate may be subject to a criminal history background check as a condition for consideration of employment. The college is a tobacco free institution. Walla Walla Community College requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary.
CompensationCompensation for adjunct instruction is contingent on enrollment and paid in accordance with the contract between the WWCC Board of Trustees and the WWCC Association for Higher Education. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will commensurate with the educational background and experience per the
Faculty Negotiated Agreement (Download PDF reader). Refer to Appendix D for the part-time salary schedule.
