The Department of Agronomy and Horticulture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) is seeking applications for a recruitment and alumni engagement position at the rank of lecturer. This 12-month (calendar year), non-tenure track, 100% teaching appointment will play a vital role in advancing the teaching and outreach mission of both the home unit and the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. This position, located in Lincoln, NE, will support IANR science literacy and engage learners across Nebraska and beyond. The incumbent will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses, including co-teaching the first-year orientation course and delivering an online course aligned with department needs. Additionally, the Coordinator is expected to develop outreach resources that support student recruitment, explore the potential for digital badging, advise and mentor undergraduate students, and support the department's student competition teams (i.e., Crops Judging). Course assignments may be adjusted over time based on the evolving needs of the Agronomy and Horticulture Department.
In this role, the Engagement Coordinator will lead efforts to build and expand innovative partnerships and programming with K-12 schools, alumni, and industry stakeholders, while engaging a diverse continuum of learners, including K-12 students, 4-H/FFA and other serving organizations, community colleges, underserved audiences (including tribal colleges), campus/extension partners. and other community groups. Key responsibilities will include designing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating educational recruitment initiatives, developing digital branding tools, and supporting efforts for the recruitment, access, and success of Agronomy and Horticulture programs. The Engagement Coordinator will work closely with the CASNR recruitment team, targeting K-12 teachers through CASNR's Early College and Career Pathways on programming to promote the department's undergraduate academic programs and career opportunities. They will build networks with community colleges and out-of-state institutions to foster transfer partnerships and new initiatives. The role will also leverage the partnership with Nebraska 4-H to enhance youth reach and programming. Additionally, they will work with other youth-serving organizations like FFA, NAYI, Girls Inc., and Seed Your Future, as well as with industry partners. Alumni relations and programming will be critical to leveraging CASNR's "Your University for a Lifetime" initiative.
In addition to the above-described duties, the individual will be expected to accept committee assignments, reporting responsibilities, and other special ad hoc assignments as requested at the administrative unit, college/division, institute, and/or university level.
