Job Summary

Nordson MEDICAL - Salem designs, engineers and manufactures components and devices with application in surgical / minimally invasive, interventional/structural heart, and pulmonology, among others. Our team manufactures precision extrusion, balloons, heat shrink tubing and sub-assemblies for the medical device industry.

Nordson MEDICAL's Salem NH Internship Program is designed to provide high performing individuals with a meaningful experience within the Medical Component Industry relative to process & product engineering of extrusion and/or balloons and/or sub-assemblies. Interns gain valuable engineering and manufacturing experience through focused projects to advance business and operational performance.

Summer session will run from late May to mid-August.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

The plastics engineering candidate works under the direction of an experienced process and product engineer focusing on manufacturing optimization of extrusion and/or balloon processing and/or sub-assembly processes. The intern will be responsible for project-based data gathering for sample production runs, data analysis, complaint investigation, product testing, engineering change control, and/or drawing/modeling support. The intern may participate in setting up or running equipment for new or existing products to advance polymer processing understanding.

Other related duties as assigned. The intern will be accountable for presenting learning and performance improvements by the conclusion of the program.

Education and Experience Requirements

Rising Junior or Senior College / University enrolled or recently graduated high performing Plastics Engineering Students.

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with polymer processing is desirable
  • Statistical & Tolerance Analysis
  • Basic computer, data retrieval and data analysis skills
  • Attention to detail, willingness to learn and contribute, project management, results oriented
  • Compliance with all Quality System and safety requirements
