POSITION: The Oklahoma State University Co-Parenting for Resilience (CPR) program invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow. This position would join an active research team to study the causes of divorce and its effects on individuals and children and aid in the translation of these findings into an ongoing psycho-educational intervention. The post doc will gain in-depth training on conducting and disseminating research through independent and collaborative research projects as well as grant writing. The CPR program currently has a data set consisting of 30,000+ observations of individuals and couples who are seeking a divorce, and spans three time periods.

The position is a one-year appointment beginning as early as September 1, 2024, with possibility for renewal dependent upon funding and satisfactory performance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Science or related field with well-developed research expertise and interests connected to the foci of the project;

Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially with regard to scientific writing;

Strong quantitative skills (including some experience with the management of large data sets and strong data analysis skills, especially longitudinal data and dyadic data);

Highly organized and able to manage several projects simultaneously;

Excellent interpersonal skills for working collaboratively with researchers and other professionals, including administrators, academic professionals, and practitioners in the field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge in one or more of the following content areas is preferred but not mandatory:

etiology of divorce and its effects on individuals and children, behavioral and mental health outcomes in children and or, adolescents and the processes that underlie academic, social, and psychological well-being, psychosocial and physiologic markers of stress, parent/child relationships, dyadic processes and analyses, ethnically diverse families, and communication and change theory.

Bilingual Spanish/English is preferred but not required.

GENERAL INFORMATION: HDFS is one of the largest departments in the university, with approximately 30 full-time faculty members, 400 undergraduate students, and 90 graduate students across both the Tulsa and Stillwater campuses. Undergraduate specializations are offered in child and family services (CFS), early childhood education (ECE is ranked seventh nationally among the 25 Best Early Childhood Education Bachelor's Programs according to Bachelor's Degree Center), family and consumer sciences education (FACSED) and Opportunity Orange Scholars (inclusive post-secondary education for students with intellectual disability). Graduate specializations are offered in applied human services (AHS), developmental and family science (DVFS), early childhood education (ECE), gerontology (GERO), and marriage and family therapy (MFT). Recent graduates with terminal degrees (B.S. with ECE option, M.S. with MFT and CFS options, and Ph.D.) have experienced near-100% success in finding relevant employment and in passing licensing exams.

The department has formed several outstanding centers, including the Child Development Laboratory, Center for Family Resilience, Center for Family Services, Center for Immigrant Health and Education, and Institute for Developmental Disabilities. The department is home to seven endowed faculty professorships or chairs. Consistent with the land-grant emphasis on scholarship dissemination, members of the faculty work with community partners in regional agencies and with Cooperative Extension educators in all 77 counties in Oklahoma. Additionally, Oklahoma ranks fifth in the country for Pre-K access for 4-year-olds, according to the National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER).
