RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client in Tustin, CA that is looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer - Medical Device. Our client is a medical device company that is developing innovative groundbreaking devices. The company offers a competitive compensation package including base salary, annual bonus and Stock/RSU's.Summary:The Principal Electrical Engineer will have an exciting opportunity to design, architect and develop innovative electrical systems for medical devices in a fast-paced environment. You'll collaborate with a cross-functional team to develop our flagship product from concept through commercialization. Additionally, the role involves performing technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. You're expected to be a hands-on engineering expert but also a technical leader, who drives the continuous improvement of innovation, quality, delivery, and productivity within the R&D organization. This position is mainly onsite (4 days onsite and 1 day remote).Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provides solutions to various issues in creative and effective ways
  • Exhibits advanced wide-ranging experience, using in-depth professional knowledge, acumen, concepts, and company objectives to develop, resolve complex models
  • Take full responsibility for all aspects of electrical and electronic design to ensure product features, performance and quality are met within the cost budget and delivered on time
  • Identifies and specifies electronic subsystems and boards
  • Documents and analyzes design requirements for implementation
  • Design, model, simulate and test complex electronic circuits, subsystems, and systems
  • Create schematic drawings, support PCB layout, generate BOMs and build packages, and coordinate with contract manufacturer on board fabrication and assembly


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Biomedical or similar field
  • At least 10-12+ years of related experience in complex electronic design and architecture for Medical Devices
  • Analog Circuit Board Design (PCB) experience is required
  • Digital design experience is a plus
  • Circuit board design of Power supply/Power Supplies, ac/dc, sensor interfaces, motor controller, driver would be ideal
  • Familiarity with Sensors/motors/pumps/valves would be ideal
  • Experience with test and troubleshooting of systems
  • Knowledge of IEC 60601 series standards
  • Understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) and reliability, with full product life cycle experience (medium to high volume is a plus)
  • Understanding of Medical Device QMS and design control, familiar with PDM/PLM system and change control process
  • Proficient with electronic circuits design, including power, analog and digital components, etc.
  • Proficient with EDA tools to do schematics and layout design such as Altium Designer or similar CAD software package
  • Proficient with lab instruments to do measurement and troubleshooting
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with electro-mechanical systems is desired
  • Experience with electrical safety and EMC is highly desired
  • Experience in medical device products such as Ventilators, Infusion pumps, hemodialysis/hydraulic system design or similar are plusses but not required
  • Experience with project management is a plus
  • Familiar with motor driver design, sensor signal processing is a plus but not required
Ideal candidate has distributed electro-mechanical systems experience

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
