Property Maintenance Specialist I

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional and detail-oriented individual for our Property Maintenance Specialist I position at our Charlotte, NC location. This position is a Monday-Friday 2nd shift (2:30pm - 11:00pm) and the starting wage is $20.00 per hour. Swing shift offers an additional $1.75 shift differential. As a Property Maintenance Specialist I, a typical day might include the following:

• Performing daily custodial maintenance duties of basic complexity including but not limited to sweeping, dusting, scrubbing, mopping, trash removal, and appropriate response to requests as needed.
  
• Completing routine deliveries and stocking as directed.
  
• Assisting with ground keeping, personnel moves, and routine floor care.
  
• Ensuring proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; performing routine maintenance as required.
  
• Following and continuously improving workplace safety, environmental practices, area processes, and waste reduction opportunities.
  

This job might be for you if you:

• Have a High School Diploma or equivalent
  
• Are able to operate custodial related equipment and use applicable chemicals, supplies, hand, and power tools with guidance.
  
• Can read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  
• Are able to work various shifts, hours, and days dependent on workload.
  
• Possess a valid driver's license.
  
• Have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic repairs including carpentry, painting, and equipment installation.
  
• Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently complete tasks and projects.
  

Physical Requirements

• Lift and maneuver 40 pounds frequently
  
• Pull weight from high/low shelves
  
• Ability to safely ascend and descend ladders
  
• Reach, bend, grip, and twist
  
• Stand for at least 8 hours

Pay Range Data

New hires generally start at $20.00 per hour. We base our starting pay offer on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills. Second shift offers an additional $1.75 shift differential.
