SUMMARY:

Supervises and coordinates activities of the Lab and Quality Assurance to obtain optimum efficiency and quality of plant operations. Coordinates the activities of Lab/QA with production.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for training and supervision of departmental hourly employees in lab testing procedures.

Supervises inspection and quality control operations, involving incoming materials and those in process, and sampling and final test inspection of finished productions, to meet quality standards.

Verifies that all products meet specifications and quality standards before shipment to the customer.

Investigates and analyzes quality problems, recommends solutions and ensure corrections are made.

Coordinates the activities of lab department with production.

Schedules lab employee work hours so as to minimize overtime and posts schedules in a timely manner.

Ensures all lab employee performance evaluations are conducted in a timely manner and performs coaching and disciplinary interviews as needed.

Assists QA manager with maintenance of regulatory compliance in all aspects of quality assurance.

Leads plant efforts to eliminate foreign material, reduce customer complaints and verify process capability.

Manages daily lab activities, lab budget and lab equipment issues.

Oversee lab supply usage, inventory and purchasing

Maintain lab proficiency and performance programs, implements corrective actions to address any issues

Develops and maintains a self-assessment program to insure plant is meeting requirements in GMPs, food safety and housekeeping

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in Dairy Manufacturing, Dairy Science, Food Science or Business Management is required or equivalent experience.

• Ability to effectively supervise, direct and work with people and develop teamwork.

• Self-motivated and a self-starter.

• Skilled in computer spreadsheet programs and able to interpret the information generated.

• Minimum three (3) years' experience in a quality related field, with significant experience in the development of quality systems.

Pay Rate :

$ 70,050 -$105,080
