Research Scientist II, IVIVP

Join Alexion Pharmaceuticals, a beacon in the global Biopharmaceutical landscape, as a Research Scientist II within the Translation Biology group of the In Vitro and In Vivo Pharmacology (IVIVP) team. This role offers an opportunity to lead the design and execution of nonclinical pharmacology studies, co-develop the joint preclinical/clinical Translational Sciences Center of Excellence, and work with outside collaborators. Accountabilities:

As a Research Scientist II, you will develop and evaluate in vivo and in vitro models, independently plan and execute studies, present research progress to project teams and senior staff, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. You will also mentor junior scientists/research associates, manage alliances with CRO's, industry and academic partners, and maintain meticulous records. Your work will contribute to patent preparation, technical report writing, and IND applications.

Essential Skills/Experience:

- Ph.D. in Nephrology, Renal Biology or related discipline (2-5 years of postdoctoral and relevant industrial experience preferred), or BS/MS with 15+ years' experience in industry

- Experience evaluating, developing and characterizing animal models as well as implementing and developing new in vitro assays

- Strong organizational and communication skills

- Proficiency in graphing, presentation and interpretation of data

- Demonstrated ability in leading and managing projects

- Demonstrated success in delivering projects on time and within budget

- Experience with rare diseases

- Previous work in a fast-paced team environment
