Job Title:Research Senior TechnicianDepartment:Medicine | Radiation Oncology

Research Senior Technician to assist and support scientific investigation to study cancer as directed in the Comprehensive Cancer Center.

• Independently conducts assigned experiments

• Performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures and Northern and Western analysis

• Sorts and processes tissue and blood samples

• Tests and evaluates current procedures

• Performs routine procedures on lab animals

• Records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results

• Assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures

• Summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts

• Prepares research progress reports

• Assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts

• Conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature

• Oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities

• Assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
  Sets up and operates laboratory equipment

• Monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.

Education/Experience:

• A Bachelor's Degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

• Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required. Requires successful completion of a background check.

• Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
