Position: Sr. Financial Analyst, SEC Financial Reporting

Department: Finance

Work Location: Bend, OR, El Paso, TX, Plano, TX, Cortez, CO, Marlborough, MA, Boston, MA, Arlington, TN, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)

Hybrid Schedule: Helen of Troy associates enjoy the advantages and flexibility of a hybrid working model, allowing for in office 3 days minimum, and remote 2 days. Any changes to this working model would be communicated accordingly.

What you will be doing:

We are looking for a dedicated Senior Financial Analyst, SEC Financial Reporting to join our Corporate Finance and Accounting team. In this essential role, you will report to the Senior Manager of External Reporting and play a key part in preparing SEC filings. You will also provide support on technical accounting matters and complex transactions, while preparing, compiling, and reviewing financial analyses from various accounting and operational functions. The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, and driven, with a strong work ethic and a passion for tackling new challenges.

  • Support all external financial reporting including SEC filings (10-K's, 10-Q's, Proxy's, 8-K's, Form 3's, Form 4's, earnings releases, investor presentations, etc.) and press releases, etc.
  • Assist in the electronic filing of such documents through Workiva filing platform.
  • Assist with preparing footnote disclosures, earnings release financial tables including Non-GAAP reconciliations, investor presentations, etc.
  • Prepare initial drafts of ad hoc SEC filings, such as 8-Ks.
  • Prepare diluted earnings per share and weighted average shares outstanding calculations.
  • Assist in the preparation of helpful ownership Form 3's and Form 4's to be filed with the SEC on a recurring basis.
  • Assist with the coordination and updating of SEC filing drafts throughout the various stages of preparation and review process based upon input, review and commentary provided by other members of the external disclosure team.
  • Support the Corporate Accounting department in maintaining the company's lease portfolio, related amortization schedules, monthly journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Automate processes and internal procedures to compile and analyze data for SEC reporting purposes using Hyperion reporting functionalities.
  • Assist with quarterly and year-end audits with external auditors to ensure compliance and timely reporting.
  • Support the department by acting as a Workiva Financial Reporting System specialist.
  • Participate in special and recurring technical accounting projects, as needed.
  • Research accounting and disclosure topics using the various research tools available to us (EY Atlas, etc.) and assist in the preparation of internal memorandums to detail the company's approach to evolving financial reporting issues as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining and continuously improving financial reporting policies, processes, and controls.


Skills needed to be successful in this role:
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prepare high-quality work products in a deadline driven environment.
  • Outstanding work ethic and the ability to build cross-functional partnerships.
  • Technical Competence - Strong knowledge and understanding of US GAAP and ability to research and analyze accounting issues and impacts under applicable accounting guidance.
  • Ability to work with minimal up-front mentorship and take ownership of work project(s).
  • Complete procedures to build efficiencies and seek out opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team as well as balance multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and social skills. Including verbal and written with an executive presence.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years Accounting or Finance experience
  • Public Accounting experience or experience within publicly traded company
  • CPA or have commitment to a definite plan to become one over a 3-5 year horizon
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of US GAAP
  • Technical accounting research experience
  • Experience or exposure to Workiva
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Consumer product/retail sector experience


In Colorado, the standard base pay range for this role is $75,910.21 - $113,865.31 annually. This base pay range is specific to Colorado, and may not be applicable to other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
