Position Overview
The Senior Manager - Terminal Installation is responsible for planning, engineering, and installation of multiple terminal installation projects in support of SubCom's undersea cable system implementations. Reporting to the Director - Marine and Terrestrial Installation, this position is an integral part of SubCom' s Marine Services department.
This position manages a team in the planning, engineering, and implementation of the SubCom's terminal and ancillary telecommunications equipment, cable station fit out, -48V Plant and modular cable stations.
Responsibilities
- Manage the terminal equipment installation project life cycle, from project kick-off and understanding the deliverables and requirements of the Supply Contract, to planning and performing site surveys; developing and documenting drawings, cabling assignments,-48V power assignments, specifications, bill of materials and purchase orders; subcontractor management, resource management, material staging and supporting shipping logistics; budget development and tracking; as-built documentation and project close out.
- Effectively interface with SubCom Project Management, Supplier Management, Finance, R&D, Marine Services; External subcontractors and contractors; and most importantly SubCom's external Customers.
- Responsible and accountable for project/expense budgets, compliance to schedules, meeting technical requirements and adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Functions independently with minimal guidance in performing complex technical work including managing subcontractors and contractors.
- This position has direct reports. Position is responsible for team assignments, coaching, development, and evaluation.
- Subcontractor identification, evaluation, selection, negotiations, and oversight through the project life cycle.
- Adherence to SubCom's safety standards and procedures.
- Support bids and proposals.
Qualifications - BS degree in Engineering and/or minimum of five (5) years relevant experience.
- Other degrees or telecommunications, outside plant, construction planning, engineering and installation experience would also be considered.
- Working knowledge of engineering applications, subcontractor management, budgeting, project and resource management.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details
- PC proficiency including AutoCAD
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must, due to the high degree of customer interaction required.
- Ability to produce / quality check written documentation including but not limited to reports, installation drawings and specifications, etc. is a critical aspect of the position.
