Sterile Processing Technician - Staff Development Coordinator

Job Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Join our team at MGH and take on the role of Staff Development Coordinator under the guidance of the CSPS Training and Staff Development Manager. You'll be instrumental in ensuring all training needs within the department are met. Collaborating closely with the Clinical Operations and Customer Service Teams, you'll oversee training logistics, materials, and communication, all while actively participating in training new hires and interns.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure compliance with MGH Policies and Procedures through necessary training and education for employees.
- Lead competency evaluations for new department personnel.
- Organize and deliver ongoing education programs to enhance staff knowledge and skills.
- Develop and maintain education calendars to ensure participation and progression.
- Customize training schedules for new employees and interns.
- Provide hands-on training in Customer Service and Supply operations.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of all training activities.
- Offer additional training and support for performance improvement.
- Contribute to special projects and quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform Inventory Specialist, Service Line Resource Tech, or Materials Coordinator duties as needed.
Qualifications
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Strong organizational, operational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and computer programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to multitask effectively. - Previous experience in inventory management within an operative setting.
EDUCATION:
Minimum Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Some college or Associate's Degree preferred
- Certificate: CRCST or CBSPD
EXPERIENCE:
Required: - At least three (3) years of direct experience in inventory management within an operative setting.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, training, or Operating Room (OR) liaison function.
- Preferred: - Experience gained in a large Academic Medical Center or Trauma Center.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must be able to perform all inventory management functions.
- Rotating weekend and on-call requirements may be necessary.
- Involves significant time spent walking and standing.
- Exposure to the Operating Room environment.
- Strict dress code, including wearing surgical scrubs.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and perform various physical tasks.
