Supervisor, Materials Management

The University of Miami UHealth/SoLé Mia opening June 2025, will bring high-quality academic medicine to North Miami, Aventura and surrounding communities. UHealth/SoLé Mia has an exciting opportunity for a full time Supervisor, Materials Management with a hire date of December, 2024. Be part of the UHealth Difference.

The Supervisor, Materials Management oversees and coordinates the activities of employees in charge of handling and transporting materials to and from different departments across the University. Additionally, the incumbent ensures that all material needs are met throughout the organization.

  • Approves or recommends selection of employees, and evaluates employee performance.
  • Assigns schedules and duties to staff ensuring appropriate coverage.
  • Reviews materials management inventory operations and procedures.
  • Maintains materials management records, such as master inventory files, manufacturer information, catalogue numbers, and material descriptions.
  • Stays informed of current, new, and obsolete materials.
  • Organizes and maintains warehouse and inventory yard areas for efficient material storage and handling.
  • Ensures appropriate levels of materials are maintained in stock.
  • Evaluates staff performance to ensure departmental processes are being adhered to and dispatched calls are being addressed in a timely manner.
  • Assists employees with tasks related to materials handling to address periods of high volume.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

  • Knowledge of business and management principles.
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others.
