The role provides guidance on experiments and test methods for the QC Laboratory and identifies and recommends opportunities for continuous improvement. Applies statistical tools, to analyze data and identify root cause and problem resolution.
Responsibilities include supervising Media QC Associates and trending laboratory data. Considers Critical To Quality parameters and risk assessment in decision making process to support predictable product flow. Initiates corrective actions.
Responsible for the continued development, improvement and implementation of Quality Systems as it relates to the Media Quality Control laboratories.
This individual is also responsible for assuring departmental compliance with ISO, FDA and IVDR requirements through supporting internal and external audits, participation on teams for product launches and process improvements and lead QC related CAPAs and change controls to include:
- Directly responsible for the activities in the Media Quality Control laboratories.
- Responsible for the training and direct supervision of Media QC Associates of Media QC Associates.
- Resolves issues to satisfy internal customers while respecting policies and procedures.
- Accountable for the accuracy and integrity of SAP and LIMS data by maintaining system to submit, supervise and trend changes/additions discontinuations for existing and new materials.
- Provides advice, updates, and troubleshooting using technical knowledge.
- Ensures logs and/or reports are maintained and sent out in a timely manner (OOS, ICR, internal testing for other BD sites)
- Provide updates on the status of products in test
- Provide trending data related to Quality System metrics
- Supports implementation of corrective actions and improvements.
- Participates on Continuous Improvement teams.
- Provides support during customers audits.
Qualifications:
- Ability to lead work teams and mentor individuals to obtain positive results
- Must be self-motivated, organized, detail oriented and have ability to multi-task projects
- Proficient in a broad range of laboratory techniques and managing projects of moderate scope and complexity
- Experience in handling biological or chemical samples and knowledge of GLP
- Demonstrated effective communication skills and the ability to work effectively with large multifunctional teams
- Capable of readily identifying, analyzing problems and develop/present recommended solutions
- Have demonstrated analytical skills using databases and statistical software
- Experienced using standard quantitative and qualitative methods
- Understands and uses published Quality System and Regulator agency requirements and utilizes standard methodologies
- Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle theories and concepts in the field
- General knowledge of other related subject areas
- Supports equipment maintenance activities, understands lab safety and hazardous waste management
- Supports qualitative and quantitative analysis of raw materials and finished goods
- Supports the investigation of testing anomalies and the implementation of corrective actions
- Have excellent understanding and knowledge of cell culture techniques and processes
- Manages time efficiently, and is able to re-order priorities as needed
- Able to delegate tasks to lab associate appropriately.
Education and or Experience:
- Preferred - BS in a Life Sciences and 5+ years of relevant experience OR MS in a Life Sciences and 3 plus years of relevant experience.
- Relevant work experience can be used in place of degree. 8+ yrs specific to QC with micro experience
