Purpose of Position

The Department of Mathematics at the University of North Dakota seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track teaching assistant professor contingent on available funding.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful applicant will receive a 12-month contract with an approximate distribution of 95% teaching and 5% service effort.   • Teach undergraduate courses in mathematics, including on-campus (in-person) courses and both term-based and self-paced asynchronous online courses
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students
  • Work collaboratively with other Mathematics Department faculty to achieve consistent and high-quality learning environments
Required Competencies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • The ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty,
    staff, and students
  • Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the
    Department of Mathematics
  • Competent in using technology and ability to adopt new tools for both on-campus and
    online course delivery.
Minimum Requirements
  • Earned M.S. in Mathematics by August 15, 2025.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
  • Experience mentoring students
  • Experience with teaching and course development for an online environment, especially
    using asynchronous delivery methods
