Who are we looking for?

In response to steady growth within our Water/Wastewater business, our Southeast Region is looking to bring onboard an accomplished Technical Director to provide oversight and guidance to project managers for successful project outcomes, develop new clients, expand market share from existing clients, and manage select projects throughout the Southeast.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Act in a Project Manager, Technical Advisor or Project Director role on existing and future water/wastewater treatment and infrastructure projects
• Provide technical leadership on projects
• Participate in project chartering meetings to help establish project direction and course of action.
• Assist with management or coordination of complex projects throughout the project duration
• Liaise with Southeast Region Engineering Design Leads regarding resourcing needs to ensure capability is in place for timely and efficient project delivery meeting quality requirements
• Complete QAQC review of technical work products such as reports, design calculations, specifications, plans, and construction schedules
• Perform monthly review of projects with project managers to drive project performance improvements; enhance our project delivery culture by providing
• Promote relationships with existing and potential clients and consultant partners in conjunction with regional water market plan
• Increase business by improving client relationships and strengthening repeat business both locally and nationally
• Assist in cross-selling additional GHD services outside of the core water market to existing clients.
• Identify new opportunities and lead and/or assist in proposal development.
• Take a leadership role in development of new client capture plans
• Be an active team member within GHD key regional client care program
• Maintain active technical society memberships and provide thought leadership within key industry forums associated with regional and national Water organizations
• Be an active member of the local Leadership Team and collaborate with other members to develop and maintain a high-performance culture
• Promote effective teamwork and staff development through mentoring and training
• Exhibit GHD's values in every action and seek every opportunity to be inclusive and to diversify GHD
• Mentor and develop project managers, design managers, discipline leads, and other professionals
• Attract, hire and retain engineering and project management staff

What you will bring to the team:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil or Environmental preferred)
• Professional Engineer license preferred
• 15 years of experience in water and wastewater treatment and infrastructure, at least 10 years of which is in the DC Metro area
• Ability to lead and oversee a project team for planning and design projects
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with proven ability to develop, mentor and lead professional technical staff
• Strong business development, proposal preparation, and marketing skills. Flexible and able to meet challenging deadlines
• A self-starter with sound judgment and decisiveness
